Who’s ready for some Rebozo fun!?!? Join certified Rebozo instructor Amethyst for a full day of connection and learning with other birth workers coming from all parts of the tri-state area (and beyond!!) This class is not just about teaching techniques. We will be sharing how to use this ancient technology to bring strength, support, relaxation, and connection to the laboring woman and her partner.
Class will be held at Carraige House Birth in Brooklyn at 10am. We will break for lunch from 1-2pm (there are many places to eat near by or you can bring a bag lunch) and we will end at 5pm.
Please come in comfy clothing and bring a notebook and pen, water bottle and Rebozo if you have one. Also, something new this go around, EVERYONE IS GETTING A REBOZO!!!! YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT. Here’s what recent attendees have to say about Amethyst’s Rebozo class:
In January of 2015 I was lucky enough to attend the Rebozo Workshop with the lovely Amethyst Hertsens. I did not know what to expect, as I hadn’t worked with a Rebozo before! Amethyst was welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgable and passionate about her work as a doula and her love of the Rebozo. The workshop was hands-on, lots of fun, and it was wonderful to be around so many inspired doulas. We learned many, many ways to use the Rebozo during pregnany and labor. What I loved most was how to use the Rebozo to deepen the connection between a pregnant woman and her partner during the amazing process of birth. The day after the workshop I had an interview with potential clients. When they asked what labor management techniques I use in my practice, I spoke about the Rebozo for a long time. It was so fresh in my memory! They were intrigued and excited about this useful tool. I got the job! Thank you, Amethyst, for an amazing experience, and for my brand new beautiful Rebozo!
Amethyst is a warm, intelligent and fun teacher. From her music selections to the easy-to-follow ways she describes the Rebozo techniques, the workshop was all I expected and more. If you’re a birth worker and want to add a great tool to your birth comfort toolbox, take her class. You’ll walk away with not just a new skill set, but with new ways to think about your work.
Not only was Amethyst’s Rebozo Workshop fun, but also highly informative. As a doula I always felt equipped in pain management and coping techniques, however never quite knew different methods for descension besides working with gravity and motion. The Rebozo has enhanced my skills in areas of comfort measures for mamas AND getting baby down into the birth canal. Whether an epidural mama who has to be in bed, or a mama grooving with gravity, I am more confident supporting the various obstacles her and baby may face through labor. The connection with other birthworkers is also a plus and Amethyst offers so many other workshops beneficial to the birthing world. The Rebozo is my 2nd one taken with her. She is warm, knowledgeable and has a heart for the work she does.
The amount of peace, love and warmth that was present in this Rebozo training was priceless! Amethyst’s energy and passion was contagious, and the hands-on, engaging activities were interactive and informative. I am so excited to share the techniques for gentle support and connection with my future doula clients. This workshop lasted a day… But the skills I learned and the relationships I forged will last a lifetime!
The information I received from Amethyst’s Rebozo class will most definitely make me a more confident and experienced Doula. There were so many “ah ha” moments when receiving the information. Not only was the class informative, Amethyst makes it so much fun! The day really flew by! Another great thing about the class is, it brings other Doulas together to form a better sisterhood or community. I loved the exchange of ideas and information between one another. I am so grateful for this class, I really feel like I can now better serve my clients.
I had a wonderful time at Amethyst’s NYC rebozo workshop. I so appreciated the chance to practice and receive feedback from the wonderful workshop participants, and learned some fantastic techniques that I’ll be using immediately in my practice. Amethyst is warm and energetic, and I very highly recommend her workshop! -Jenny L.
The Rebozo class with Amethyst was very Informative, fun, and warm, welcoming, loving, engaging and a pure delight to have taken. It was so nice to be in a class setting that catered to the many different ways a person learns. This course was one that I sincerely made a point to attend and participate in because it offers an organic labor tool that can be used to help moms as well as our partners. I truly believe that not only was the topic enlightening but the alignment of both the class and the welcoming spirit of Amethyst, made the class what it was. She took her time in explaining everything but also made sure we got through everything she needed to show us. I would definitely recommend this specific class to anyone that is shopping around for a Rebozo course.
